OC teen developed wildfire predicting technology

USA – ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. — During a fire, a quick response can be one thing that can help prevent the flames from spreading catastrophically.

A teenager from Newport Coast has developed something that could potentially provide a warning about fires that have just started. Ryan Honary’s system combines elements from a fire detector he developed when he was in the fifth grade with artificial intelligence to help predict where a fire might be headed.

Using an app, the now-ninth grader says he hopes to send alerts to those in the fire’s path and information to firefighters so his wildfire-sensing system can help save lives and homes.
