SOFOCATION OF FOREST FIRE IN RESERVA NATURA

On April 27, 2019, military personnel of the Mechanized Infantry Brigade “General Augusto C. Sandino” and the Civil Defense of the Army of Nicaragua, in coordination with INAFOR, General Directorate of Firefighters, Ingeniero Montelimar and members of the Natura Reserve, They participated in the smothering of forest fire in the Nature Reserve, located at kilometer 54.5 Villa El Carmen – Masachapa road, municipality of San Rafael del Sur, department of Managua, managing to extinguish a fire in an area of ​​85 manzanas between forest, pasture and tacotales contributing to the protection of more than 800 species of flora and 400 species of fauna conserved in this area, the rapid intervention prevented the fire from spreading and affecting families living in nearby communities.

In the suffocation were used 29 military personnel, 1 heavy vehicle, 2 light vehicles, 1 autocisterna, 2 tractors, 1 motorcycle, 4 communication radios and special means against fires.

Our institution continues to work day by day in the protection, care and preservation of the environment and of the families that are at risk from these fires.

The Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Army of Nicaragua, fulfills its tasks and missions: “Everything for the Homeland”.
