Combat of forest fires has new ally: Russian helicopter Kamov KA-32 arrives in Chile

CHILE/RUSSIA – A new element for fighting forest fires in Chile arrived on Friday at the Pudahue air terminal. This is the Russian helicopter Kamov KA-32, which comes to reinforce the CONAF area fleet. This aircraft will remain in the next few days in the air base of Group 10 of the FACH, while the coupling phase is completed.

The aircraft arrived on an air ferry to the cargo terminal, immediately initiating the assembly process by specialized personnel, this work will take between three and five days to be complete. The Kamov is a heavy twin-rotor helicopter, which allows to face intensity winds, and is perfectly adapted to the topography of Chile given its maneuverability.

For the Minister of Agriculture, Antonio Walker, “this is very good news, this helicopter adds to the fight of forest fires as we designed it in the national plan of prevention and combat, is what President Piñera has requested, the strengthen our ability to react. We must thank the efforts made by the Ministry of the Interior, Onemi and CONAF. This helicopter has a great efficiency, is capable of reaching all types of terrain, can launch 5,000 liters of water from its pond and has a transport capacity of 11 people to be able to mobilize our brigadistas. This aircraft has increased to 46 aircraft present in the forest fire fighting during the current season 2018-2019, a historic event in the control of fire in our country.

Coming from Canada, Kamov was hired with pilot, co-pilot and three maintenance technicians and will be assigned to the Maule Region, particularly to the Vichuquén area.

Combate de los incendios forestales tiene nuevo aliado: llegó helicóptero ruso Kamov KA-32 a Chile

CHILE/RUSSIA – Un nuevo elemento para el combate de los incendios forestales en Chile arribó este viernes al terminal aéreo de Pudahue. Se trata del helicóptero ruso Kamov KA-32, que viene a reforzar la flota área de CONAF. Esta aeronave permanecerá durante los próximos días en la base aérea del Grupo 10 de la FACH, mientras cumpla la fase de acoplamiento.

La aeronave llegó en un ferry aéreo al terminal de carga iniciándose de inmediato el proceso de ensamblaje por parte del personal especializado, este trabajo tomará entre tres y cinco días para estar completo. El Kamov es un helicóptero pesado de doble rotor, lo que permite enfrentar vientos de intensidad, y se adapta perfectamente a la topografía de Chile dada su maniobrabilidad.

Para el ministro de Agricultura, Antonio Walker, “esta es una muy buena noticia, este helicóptero se suma al combate de los incendios forestales tal como lo diseñamos en el plan nacional de prevención y combate, es lo que el Presidente Piñera ha pedido, el fortalecer nuestra capacidad de reacción. Debemos agradecer las gestiones realizadas por el Ministerio de Interior, la Onemi y CONAF. Nosotros necesitamos que la ciudadanía nos ayude, número uno prevención, número dos prevención, número tres prevención, el mejor incendio es el que no se produce, ante cualquier actitud sospechosa por favor llamar al número 130 para alertar”.

Este helicóptero cuenta con una gran eficiencia , es capaz de alcanzar todo tipo de terreno, puede lanzar 5.000 litros de agua de su estanque y cuenta con una capacidad de transporte de 11 personas para poder movilizar a nuestros brigadistas. Con este aparato se ha aumentado a 46 las aeronaves presentes en el combate de incendios forestales durante la actual temporada 2018-2019, un hecho histórico en el control del fuego en nuestro país.

Procedente de Canadá, el Kamov fue contratado con piloto, copiloto y tres técnicos de mantenimiento y será destinado a la Región del Maule, particularmente a la zona de Vichuquén.
