County Issues Smoke Advisory Due to Drifting Smoke From Wildfire Burning in Mexico

MEXICO / USA: Smoke from a large fire burning in Mexico has prompted the county to issue a smoke advisory for San Diego County.
The county’s Air Pollution Control District (APCD) issued the advisory Thursday after smoke from a fire near Rosarito, Mexico, south of the U.S.-Mexico border, drifted north to San Diego.
As a result, fine particulates, or PM2.5 concentrations, may reach unhealthful levels in some areas.
Residents from Otay Mesa to Chula Vista to Mission Valley to Rancho Bernardo contacted NBC 7 to tell us they could smell the smoke.
In areas with heavy smoke, San Diegans should assume that air quality levels are unhealthy for sensitive groups to unhealthy for all individuals.
Areas with minor smoke impacts will have air quality levels ranging from moderate to unhealthy for sensitive groups.
if you smell smoke, the APCD recommends limiting physical activity. If possible, stay indoors to limit exposure.
