USA – Firefighters are expecting one of the busiest wildfire seasons in years and they want you to be ready. Grasses are now tall and dense after an incredibly wet winter. As those grasses dry out they become the perfect fuel for wildfires.

Once a user downloads the new “Ready for Wildfire” app and signs up, it will notify you if your home is within 30 miles of a wildfire larger than 10 acres. Firefighters hope these critical alerts will help homeowners become more aware of their surroundings and able to act accordingly.

Not only does the app alert users to wildfire danger, but it also gives users a step-by-step checklist of how to keep your home safe should a wildfire threaten your neighborhood

The app also allows users to enable an alert system to notify them if a wildfire is reported within 30 miles of your phone or tablet.

“One of the many benefits of our new Readyfor Wildfire app is the timely and accurate information it provides to residents about a wildfire in their area,” said Chief Ken Pimlott, CAL FIRE director and California’s state forester. “I am excited about this new valuable tool that will provide early alerts to the public to help ensure their safety.”
