Canada — The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has confirmed five new forest fires in the Sudbury region.

The ministry said two of the fires are not under control and are around 0.1 of a hectare in size.

One fire is being held at 0.4 of a hectare, while another is being held at 0.1 of a hectare.

The final fire confirmed Saturday is already out, at 0.1 of a hectare.

In addition to the five new fires confirmed Saturday, the ministry said there are 20 active fires in the region, including three in the Sudbury region.

The largest, called Sudbury 35, is being held at 85 hectares.

“From April 1 to Oct. 31, waterways are used by CL-415 water bombers to suppress wildfires,” the ministry said in a press release. “When CL-415 waterbombers approach a lake, people in watercrafts are asked to move close to the shore so the waterbombers can perform their scoop.”
