Australia — A CFS volunteer has died after he was hit by a fire truck on the Southern Ports Highway, 12 kilometres north-west of Millicent on Tuesday afternoon.

At about 4.35pm, the driver of a CFS utility was standing at the rear of his vehicle on the highway preparing to fight a grass fire at Rendelsham when another fire truck attending, collided with the man.

Major crash investigators are attending to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Motorists are advised the Southern Ports Highway between Millicent and Rendelsham is closed in both directions until further notice. Traffic diversions are in place.
