Tunisia– Beja — The Civil Defence teams managed, on Monday morning, to extinguish the fires that had broken out, on Sunday in the Testour, Nefza and Teboursouk delegations, governorate of Beja.

The fires devastated 25 hectares of forest trees and Aleppo pines, 12 ha of which in the Ain Younes forests and 12 ha in the Zriba Mountain in Zaldo (both in Testour) and 1 ha of the Eddis Mountain forests (Nefza).

High temperatures and sirocco wind are the main causes for these fires, Regional Civil Defence Director Riadh Zoghlami told Tap news agency.

The Civil Defence teams intervened more than 20 times on Saturday in several regions of the Beja governorate, the official added, specifying that another fire erupted on Monday in the Ain Younes forest.
