Argentina — Forest fires that began on Sunday in the province of Tierra del Fuego, Argentina’s extreme south, today spread across fifty hectares of forest land, officials confirmed.

The fires, which spread in the last few hours due to strong winds, were affecting the outskirts of Tolhuin town, located in the centre of the provincial area.

A team of firemen, police, and Civic Defense were working at the scene to try to control the flames which -according to a communiqué released by the provincial government- even though they had spread across the urban area, “they are still a significant way away from the inhabited area.”
