USA — The Yamhill County Sheriff’s office said late Saturday the 80-year-old man found in a brush fire has died.

A sheriff’s spokesperson said the man was from Carlton and likely leased or worked on the property.

The fire was first reported to dispatchers around 12:45 p.m. Saturday by neighbors who saw a large smoke column.

When firefighters arrived on scene they found the 80-year-old man along the edge of the burn line, said fire spokesperson Ken Builderback.

Officials have completed their investigation but Builderback said a cause has not been determined.

The fire burned about 6.5 acres.
