USA — The wildfire that authorities in Kimble County are calling “Oasis” has destroyed over 10,100 acres of land.

Kimble County sheriffs tell me the wind has been the major problem, causing the fire to shift in different directions. That prompted evacuations of all homeowners along Highway 377 from County Road 171 to County Road 273 Friday afternoon. The evacuation lasted more than 6 hours.

Voluntary evacuations are still in effect and more than thirty agencies continue to battle the blaze from the ground and sky. Fire officials tell us ten structures have been destroyed along with four vehicles. There have been minor injuries to four fire fighters.

Fire crews say the wildfire is forty percent contained, and they are hoping to be able to have it burn out as they continue their efforts in the Texas Hill Country just southwest of Junction.
