USA — Authorities say wildfires blazing through northwest Arkansas have destroyed three mobile homes.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s office says no one was injured when the fires broke out Thursday near Mulberry, though several people were home.

State forestry commission spokeswoman Christina Fowler says crews are battling about 10 wildfires across the state. Fowler says in the past 24 hours, crews have fought 56 fires that burned about 2,600 acres of land, including the 10 active blazes.

The largest of those fires charred 928 acres near Dolph in Izard County in northern Arkansas.

Fowler says high wind gusts and a drop in humidity are contributing to the uptick in fires.

Several counties have burn bans in place. Fowler cautions people to hold off on burning things until rains come this weekend.
