The finding has come from scientists of the University of Western Australia, Perth’s Kings Park and Botanic Garden and Kew Gardens in London.
They say frequent burning could do more harm than good in some circumstances damaging native Australian plants that are adapted to fire.
They say preventing an increase in fire frequency is needed for a healthy soil to maintain water supplies, water quality and biodiversity.
