USA — A large grass fire burning Saturday near Evant in far western Coryell County forced the evacuation of some 200 boy scouts who were camping in the area for the weekend.
Gatesville Fire Chief Billy Vaden said the boys and their adult leaders all had been gathered up just after 4 p.m. and were being taken to safety.
No one was reported injured.
Vaden was unsure where the scouts were from but they had been camping out on a ranch just off Langford Cove Road in Evant.
Vaden requested help from Coryell County sheriffs deputies to move the scouts to a safe place.
Four fire departments were battling the large grass fire that was reported at about 2 p.m.
