USA — A North Carolina fire chief died Friday as a result of injuries from a January fire response.
Wilson’s Mills Fire and Rescue Volunteer Fire Chief Richard Leo “Ricky” Barbour, 55, experienced chest pains the day after responding to a wildland fire on January 29.
Chief Barbour, a 30-year fire service veteran, was taken to the hospital where he was treated, but never recovered from the injury.
A funeral and viewing is planned for Tuesday at Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church, 652 Swift Creek Road, Smithfield, N.C.
