Forest fire in Vaishnodevi hills, 3 housed gutted

India — A fire broke out in Trikuta hills where Mata Vaishnodevi shrine is located in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir razing three houses and a poultry farm, police said today.

The fire broke out in the forests of Ardh Kunwari in Trikuta hills late last night destroying 300 square metres of forest area, they said, adding that Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board officials and forest officers rushed to the spot.

The flames were doused this morning, they said, adding no loss of life has been reported.

While, over 500 square metre of forest area was gutted in a fire in Purmandal belt of Samba district early today, they said, adding the blaze was extinguished by fire service department and forest officials.
