USA — Authorities lifted a mandatory evacuation order for residents of 64 homes in the Paradise Valley area of La Canada Flintridge due to mud flows caused by heavy rain in the area on Monday.

The homes had been evacuated early in the afternoon due to fears that catch basins designed to keep mud and debris from sliding downhill could overflow.

The order was lifted around 5:30 p.m. Monday evening.

Originally, authorities said more than a hundred homes were ordered evacuated, but later revised that number.

The area was the scene of the Station Fire last summer that scorched about 250 square miles of Angeles National Forest.
