Chiefs should form anti-bushfire committees- Obeng-Forson

Ghana — The Agona West Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Felix Jacob Obeng-Forson has appealed to chiefs in farming communities in the area to initiate moves to form anti-bushfire committees ahead of the coming dry season.

He said communities, which had the committees in place should contact the Ghana National Fire Service to r retrain their members.

Mr Obeng-Forson was addressing a delegation of chiefs, who paid a courtesy called on him at his office in Agona Swedru.

He expressed the hope that the chiefs and other opinion leaders in the Municipality would assist the assembly to be more proactive towards man-made and natural disasters.

Mr Obeng-Forson said that it was the cardinal responsibility of all to ensure that everything pertaining to the orderly administration of the Municipality went on successfully.

Speaking to the press later, the Municipal Chief Executive asked the people to be law abiding and co-operate with the law enforcing agents to reduce the crime wave in the area.

He charged the assembly members, health workers, teachers, opinion leaders and family heads to educate the people on sound environmental and domestic hygiene to ensure a healthier nation and national economic progress.
