India — The massive forest fires along the tracks of holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi has disrupted the yatra, said sources.

According to the sources, the forest on the way ahead of Ardhkumari temple caught fire on Saturday. The blaze spread rapidly due to high velocity of winds.

The people are helping the authorities to extinguish the fire with the help of sand and water as fire tenders cannot reach the spot.

The yatra has been disrupted several times due to fire in the past few days. It is worth mentioning here that a major fire broke out two days back on the hilly pilgrimage track gutting 40 shops and a residential building but there was no loss of life.

Explosions of some LPG cylinders in a shop near Charan Paduka, a few kilometres away from Katra, the base camp for the pilgrimage triggered the fire.
