Australia — A bush fire that started in Gnaraloo, north of Carnarvon, nine days ago has been extinguished.

Firefighters will continue to patrol the area checking containment lines until midday tomorrow.

Rain helped firefighters in putting out the fire, sparked by a lightning strike near Gnaraloo Station on January 16.  It burnt more than 49,000 hectares of bush and pastoral land.

A water tank on the border of Gnaraloo and Quobba was damaged along with fences. Stock losses have been reported.
