USA — A bush fire in Hammond Park which was believed to have been deliberately lit is now under control.

It is being held within containment lines and Fire and Rescue Service crews are mopping up. They will monitor the area for the next few hours.

Career Fire and Rescue Service and volunteer bush fire brigade crews spent almost three hours battling the blaze in which about 3ha of bush was burnt.

The Kwinana Freeway has been reopened but motorists are asked to drive cautiously as fire-fighters are still in the area.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time the fire began, is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
