Sweden — Officials say two large fires are ravaging the woods in northeastern Sweden.

Rescue service spokesman Lennart Juhlin says firefighters in seven helicopters are working to bring the fires under control. About 20 people have been evacuated from their homes.

The two blazes stretch across some 1,100 hectares (2,700 acres) northwest of Hudiksvall in the district of Halsingsland.

Juhlin says extremely dry weather combined with sparks from forestry machinery are believed to have started the fires.
