Australia — South Australia’s Country Fire Service has developed a safety skills course specifically for women.

The course teaches women how to secure their houses and families, in case fire strikes.

Di Delaine, from the CFS, says it’s important women learn the basics of how to handle a bushfire.

“Women are often the ones home alone when a bushfire does occur, and many of them haven’t got the skills that their partners or families who’ve been in the CFS for a long time have,” she says.

“So they often don’t know how the equipment works.”
