El Paso, Texas, USA — A brush fire rages out of control and gutted out two homes.  All that remains are pieces of boards that make up the mobile homes frame.

The fire started before 5 p.m., Sunday.  In a matter of minutes it swept through nearly 4 blocks.

Firefighters were not only fighting against time but they had to battle the wind, as gusts roared up to 50 plus miles per hour.

Fire fighter’s biggest fear was the fire would spread even further.  A fear that, according to Trini Lopez, Mayor of Socorro,is the reason more than five fire units that included, Socorro, El Paso, Horizon, San Elizario, Montana Vista and Fabens.

It took crews more than two hours to put out the fire.  But even then the worst wasn’t over as thick blankets of smoke lingered over nearly a mile of Socorro Rd.

No injuries were reported.  Red Cross of El Paso is helping at least two displaced families.
