California, USA — The Poomacha Fire (Palomar Mountain,Pauma Valley) is 49,540 acres and 65% contained. Full containment is expected onOctober 31st and full control on November 5th. There are 2,600 firefightersassigned. There have been 20 injuries to firefighters. Cost to date $7.2 million.The DC-10, 6-Military AFFS (C-130), 6-Heavy Air Tankers and the Canadian MartinMars water scooping tanker (currently based at Lake Elsinore) are currentlyworking together to contain the spread of the fire. Mop up and patrol isunderway within the flats, but the area around Palomar Mountain is still active.

The Witch Fire (started mid-way between Ramona and Julian)is 197,990 acres and 95% contained. Full containment is expected on October 30thand full control on November 3rd. There are 2,340 firefighters assigned. Cost todate $13 million. There have been 39 injuries to firefighters, 2 civilianfatalities.

The Rice Fire (Rainbow, Fallbrook, Bonsall, Pala Mesa, DeLuz areas) is 9,472 acres and 100% contained. Full containment was obtained onOctober 28th at 7 a.m., and full control on November 5th. There are 469firefighters assigned. Cost to date $5.5 million. There have been 5 injuries tofirefighters.

The Santiago Fire (Orange County/Cleveland National Forest).28,400 acres with 65% containment. There have been 8 firefighter injuries. 15residences and 9 outbuildings have been destroyed. 8 residences & 12outbuildings damaged. It now appears very unlikely that it will cross intoRiverside County.

The Harris Fire (southern San Diego county) is 90,440 acresand 75% contained. Full containment is expected on October 31st and full controlon November 3rd. There are 2,473 firefighters assigned. Cost to date $11.9million. There have been 34 injuries to firefighters, 21 civilians burned and 5civilian fatalities.
