Dubrovnik. Croatia — At least 26 firefighters are injured in the raging forest fire that spreads towards the Croatian city of Dubrovnik, MIAreports.

A state of emergency has been declared since the suburbs are threatened by the major forest fire.

The mayor of the medieval port city, Dubravka Suica said emergency services were ready to evacuate residents from the hillside districts above the city centre.

She has urged women, children and elderly people in the affected hillside districts to go to a shelter that has been set up, adding that tourists were save because most of them were accommodated in seaside hotels.

Over 250 firefighters and 100 residents are struggling the blazes since Saturday. The firefighting teams are now reinforced with additional 500 firemen and soldiers.
