Australia — Northern Territory firefighters sent to help in the Victorian bushfire effort say there is a big chance more Top End recruits might be needed to help.

In total, 30 Territorians have been sent to help put out the more than 100 bushfires which are still ablaze across Victoria.

The group is supposed to be returning January 5.

NT contingent liaison officer Tom Kenisney says the group has been working hard to develop containment lines in the Mount Hotham region.

He says the main danger is in Victoria’s east.

“They are predominantly at this time on the eastern side, although they are also on the north and southern edge more so than the western side,” hesaid.
