A forest fire destroyed at least 1,200 hectares of the San Estéban National Park in the industrial state of Carabobo, El Universal reported, citing civil defense officials it didn‘t name. The blaze began on Thursday and is still burning, the newspaper said, citing the officials. No deaths or injuries have been reported.

More than 100 firefighters, including air force units, are battling the blaze, which is to the northeast of the city of Valencia. The cause of the blaze is unknown. Venezuela’s northern coastline, which includes San Estéban National Park, attracts millions of migratory birds each year. Bloomberg
