VietNam –132.966ha in six point forest areas are in threat of fire.
According to central preventing and control forest fire department (CPCFFD) Vo Doi, National Garden U Minh Thuong, National Garden Phu Quoc in Kien Giang Province, National Garden Tam Dao in Vinh Phuc Province, Pine Forest Da Lat, and paper-material forest Kontum are under threat from fire.
There areas of cajuput, pine, and other dry trees, are very susceptible to fire, and in order to prevent forest fires, CPCFFD warned local authorities to prepare fire-engines and forces to be available.
CPCFFD has ordered local authorities to cooperate with the army, police, and local residents to be on duty all day in danger areas, and forbid residents to light fires.
CPCFFD has also asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MAPD), the Defense Ministry, and the Police Ministry to assign people to be on duty and available to extinguish forest fire.
Previously, these ministries hosted a meeting to review their work to prevent and control forest fires. In the last three years, authorities uncovered 134, 000 cases of crime related to the prevention and control of forest fire rules. Police in 49 provinces and cities arrested 895 arsenists in Nghe An, Quang Nam, Hue, Kon Tum, and BinhThuan Provinces.
