JAMBI – Haze covering Batanghari and Tebo regencies, two of the 10 regencies in Jambi, in the last three days has disrupted traffic, forcing some drivers to install additional fog lamps on their vehicles. “Every driver has to be extra careful, especially at night,” said one motorist, Rudi, on Monday. The haze in Tebo regency was particularly thick. Officials have reportedly blamed the haze on slash-and-burn clearing in the forests to make way for plantations. However, head of the forestry office in Tebo regency, Yolli B. Bungin, was not available for comment.
