In the South East Europe / South Caucasus Region several major landscape fire management projects are underway since 2022:
Landscape Fire Management in the Western Balkans” (LFMWB)
LFMWB is a programme on cross-boundary cooperation in landscape fire management, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia, implemented in the first phase 2022-2025 by the Regional Fire Monitoring Center for Southeast Europe / South Caucasus (RFMC) through the Regional Executive Agency (REA) FARMAHEM, financed by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and supported by GFMC; 20-21 December 2022, Skopje, North Macedonia.

Strengthening Responses to Security Risks from Climate Change in South-Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia
This project of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) is covering various activities in regional cross-boundary cooperation in fire management, e.g.:

Remote Sensing of Fires
EUMETSAT Workshop in Bulgaria 2009
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) of Bulgaria and EUMETSAT organized a workshop «MSG Land Surface Applications: Drought & Fires, Sofia, Bulgaria, 7-10 September 2009. The workshop provided a forum for exchange of advanced knowledge and experience between meteorologists, developers of satellite products and primary end-users of Meteosat Second Generation data for Land Surface Analyses related to the natural hazards of Drought and Vegetation fires. Experts in meteorological products developers, experienced forecasters, experts in satellite data interpretation and land surface analyses will attend the workshop.
Center for Wildfire Research
The Center was established at University of Split Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (FESB) in cooperation with Split and Dalmatia County having the main task research and knowledge dissemination connected with wildfire prevention and management. The website is available in Croatian dedicated primarily to Split and Dalmatia County Holistic Wildfire Prevention Program, but also to various topics connected with information and communication technologies (ICT) application in wildfire prevention, early detection, management and post-fire rehabilitation and management.
