Australia — The ACT Rural Fire Service (RFS) says it islikely the bushfire season will again be extended this year.

Today there is a total fire ban in the ACT, with theweather bureau predicting hot and windy conditions.

Last year, Canberra’s bushfire season was extended untilmid-May because of dry conditions.

RFS chief officer Michael Ross says the currentconditions are just as dangerous.

“Day temperatures themselves certainly aren’tcooling down that much,” he said.

“Here we are again with another total fire ban andit just indicates how dry and how unseasonal the weather is at the moment.”
