GEIA / ACCENT WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT
Paris, in the “Salle de l’Espace” at the CNES headquarters
23-25 June 2004
The GEIA project (Global Emissions Inventory Activity) is entering a new phase of broader scope within IGBP. GEIA’s expended activities will be associated with the Emissions Database effort of the ACCENT (Atmospheric Composition Change: an European network) European Network of Excellence.
An open workshop for GEIA and ACCENT will take place in Paris, in the “Salle de l’Espace” at the CNES headquarters:

and click on Headquarters-Paris).
The workshop will start at 2:00 p.m. on 23 June and end at 5:00 p.m. on 25 June. The main goal of this workshop is to have extensive discussions aimed at reviewing existing research within several topics and at developing a preliminary plan for the GEIA/ACCENT activities.
The proposed topics for this meeting are (see also draft programme below):
- Emissions from megacities
- Vegetation canopy/terrestrial emissions/deposition
- Remote sensing and driving variables
- Past emissions
- Future emissions
- Oceanic emissions
- Natural emissions of aerosols
- Biomass burning
Each session will start with a review followed by very short presentations as a starting point for the discussions. All those interested in participating are welcome to contact Claire Granier at claire.granier@aero.jussieu.fr and to send short information (2-3 lines) on the participant’s expertise.
