The BUSHFIRE 99 Conference will be hosted by Charles Sturt University, through the School of Environmental and Information Sciences, along with the Centre for Plant Biodiversity Research, CSIRO and NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. The organisers include Mr Brian Lord (Convenor), Dr Malcolm Gill (CSIRO) and Dr Ross Bradstock (NSW NPWS). The Conference will be held from:

Wednesday, 7 July 1999 to Friday, 9 July 1999

The organising committee is anticipating well over 200 delegates to attend, with several excellent speakers including Dr James Clark, an eminent paleaoecologist from Duke University, North Carolina, USA. Dr Clark has been invited to produce a review of pre-historic fire regimes and biodiversity in Australia.

Invited contributions from experienced scientists covering a cross-section of institutions and localities in Australia have been sought and accepted. A book will be produced from the major symposium on the theme, Flammable Australia: the fire regimes and biodiversity of a continent.
