INVITATION:
The International Association of Wildland Fire and the New South Wales RuralFire Service invite you, your colleagues and your partners to attend the1999 Wildland Fire Safety Summit in Sydney from 2-5 November 1999.

PROGRAMME OUTLINE:
The Conference will review four case studies of large event fires (tentativelythe 1983 Australian Ash Wednesday Fires, the 1994 New South Wales AustralianFires, the 1998 Florida USA Fires, and the 1994 South Canyon USA Fire),for which public preparation, agency organisation, or human factors problemswill be examined.

Presentations will also be made on other wildland fire safety issues withthree main focus areas:

  • prevention
  • operations, and
  • human factors

This is an opportunity for international and inter-agency sharing to information and perspectives on these issues.

Invited experts will describe each of the four case study events in plenarysessions. There will also be smaller group sessions and papers are beingsought from any interested person at any level (IAWF membership not required)that focus on pre-fire planning/prevention, operations or human/sociologicalfactors. Other topics may also be accepted.

ABSTRACTS:
Please send your abstract – for a 30 minute talk (including questions) -of no more than 250 words, in hard copy and on disk (or email) to IAWF by10 June 1999.
