Objectives:
To review and discuss the fire events in Sumatra 2013 from a variety of perspectives. Were there meteorological or drought indicators prior to the fires? What was seen by different satellites and sensor networks? Is it possible to use existing sensors, ground based and satellite, to identify areas where similar episodes are likely? What improvements in satellite and sensor networks do the government agencies in charge of responding require? What are the effective mechanisms for distributing geospatial data to those who could use it?
