Wildfires session at EGU 2009

19-24 April 2009, Vienna, Austria

Within the frame of the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly 2009 from 19-24 April 2009 in Vienna, Austria, there will be a special session ‘Spatial and temporal patterns of wildfires: models, theory, and reality’ (NH8.1/BG2.9 – co-organized by the Natural Hazards & Biogeosciences divisions).

Session description:
Wildfires are the result of a large variety and number of interacting components, producing patterns that vary significantly both spatially and temporally. This session will examine models, theory, and empirical studies in wildfire research. Submissions in any one or combination of these three main areas are encouraged, and it is envisioned bringing together wildfire hazard managers, applied researchers, and theoreticians.
Posters are also very much encouraged, as it is planned to have both lively oral and poster sessions.

Selected papers will be considered for publication in a Special Issue of International Journal

Abstract deadline: 13 January 2009

Please note that the deadline for financial support applications is 7 December 2008.
