USA: MTN stations across the state have now raised $291,251 as part of the Montana Wildfire Relief Fund.
And now, there’s another terrific opportunity for people to double the amount of their donation. Carl and Kay Carbon of Great Falls have stepped forward and promised to match another $50,000.
All contributions made since 5:00 p.m., Sept. 29 will count towards the new match.
The current total includes an initial $50,000 in matching funds from the Montana Television Network and its parent company Cordillera Communications.
Earlier this month, the fundraising drive caught the attention of Arthur Blank and The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation. Co-founder of The Home Depot, Blank owns the Atlanta Falcons and the Mountain Sky Guest Ranch.
They announced an additional $50,000 match, which generated even more enthusiasm. The donation comes from the Guest Ranch Fund, an affiliate fund to the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation.
As of Saturday, Sept. 30, 1058 people across the state and across the country have donated to the cause.
Other significant contributors include $25,000 from the Montana Shirt Company and $10,000 from American Bank.
MTN stations, in coordination with parent company Cordillera Communications based in St. Paul, MN and the Montana Community Foundation, launched the unprecedented fundraising campaign September 12. MTN includes KTVQ Billings, KBZK Bozeman, KXLF Butte, KRTV Great Falls, KBGF Great Falls, KTVH Helena, KXLH Helena, KAJ Kalispell and KPAX Missoula.
Through their websites, MTN stations are directing donors to the Montana Community Foundation donation page. With this partnership, Montanans will be assured their contributions stay right here in Montana. In addition, MTN has dedicated substantial news time, on-air promotion, and digital advertisements.
